OUR STORY
Knightsbridge is founded by a group of bedding professionals. We were regularly asked for reliable contract mattress suppliers. There were only a handful of suppliers we would recommend and often they only dealt with suppliers. We decided that we’d become the trusted supplier.
We heard lots of stories about how companies had been duped by slick salesmen who knew little about the products they were selling. All they seemed to care about was the commission and then the next sale. These companies were left with mattresses not fit for their business need.
We were continually asked by more companies for reliable suppliers. Our reputation for sourcing quality commercial mattresses spread.
Eventually, we decided to dedicate ourselves full-time and have not looked back since.

WHAT IS CRIB 5?
Beds and mattresses in the UK need to meet CRIB 5 standards. CRIB 5 mattresses need a much higher fire safety level than standard mattresses. CRIB 5 is also known as source 5.
Who needs CRIB 5 mattresses?
It is mainly hospitality businesses that require CRIB 5 mattresses. The following types of business require CRIB 5 / Source 5 mattresses;
What makes a mattress compliant?
A mattress or bed for commercial use must comply to specific UK Fire Regulations comprising of the following tests;
- BS EN597-1 (Cigarette)
- BS EN597-2 (Match)
- CRIB 5 - BS7177
All the mattresses we supply meet these standards and can be used in commercial premises.
Do I have to use CRIB 5?
It is an offence to use contract mattresses and contract beds that have not met BS7177 standards for commercial use in the UK. Failure to use a product that does not meet the minimum requirements could lead to prosecution in the event of a fire and invalidate your insurance.
